Statement on Global Warming

Amelia Roberts has this to say about her artwork:

"The West blame China's carbon emissions as a main cause of Global Warming. Yet the West seem unaware that they are fueling China's industrial revoluton. The "Made in China" and "Bought by Us" stickers attached to the two A2 posters reflected the visual language used in mass produced products."

Warp

A hip music video for The Bloody Beetroots’ new track “Warp” (label Dim Mak), directed by Francesco Calabrese. The video, in an odd way, seems like a '00's version of this.

Kids are just like Us!!!

Kidswear has undergone a huge transformation over the last few years, led by a new generation of designers who have applied their creativity to the children's category, usually after having kids themselves. Today kidswear is a carbon copy of adult fashion - incorporating key trends.

You know a brand has succeeded when you look at a kids item and want to wear it yourself. Like this new collection, which features graphic print t-shirts, shorts and boardies, which wouldn't look out of place on the backs of urban hipsters. Unfortunately you need to be aged six or under to squeeze into them so we've accepted that they are strictly for kids. If you have any little people in your life, you can purchase a limited number of these select pieces through- email bill@thecoolhunter.net

Man uses his finger as 2GB Memory Stick

Orangehouse aside: I try to go trolling for blog fodder during my morning coffee and breakfast. Sometimes you come across stuff that you didn't need to see while eating, this is one of them.

Learn more about the worlds first disturbing cyborg here. Or just gleam all you need from this direct quote:

"It is not ruled out that many people will be using such bionic devices in their everyday life in the future."

For those about to tweet.... I salute you

And now for something completely ridiculous… a bare-bones Twitter something-or-other that simply appends the phrase ‘up in this bitch’ to your tweets.

It stemmed from a conversation in which @shanitajohn claimed that I, @aaronshekey, “can’t just add ‘up in this bitch’ to anything willy-nilly.” Let’s prove her wrong. Add your own "up in this bitch" here.

Yuken Teruya

Yuken Teruya manipulates everyday objects, transforming their meanings to reflect on contemporary society and culture. Cutting trees out of paper bags and cardboard toilet paper rolls, he creates meticulous and intricate art works, small and enchanting worlds, which relate to broader concerns. In each bag and roll, the shape of a tree is created without adding or removing anything, just by cutting out and folding the paper from the bag itself. Teruya’s works explore issues such as the growing consumerism of contemporary society, depleting natural resources and other problems associated with globalism, including the threat it poses to localized cultural traditions and identities.

Orangehouse aside: I love when artists become all "statementy" trying to explain their motivation and meaning blah, blah, blah. However there are not enough words in the universe to explain away this.

The Future Looks Exactly like you think it does

Mark Harris

If you've ever watched an episode of the Jetsons and wondered when all that cool space age stuff was going to happen, your wait is over. The Aptera has arrived, looking like some type of hip space pod sent down to Earth on an exploratory mission. Here's some pics and information about this super cool eco friendly three wheeled bundle of fun.

Steve Fambro was working as an engineer in Carlsbad, California, but what he really wanted to do was design his own eco friendly automobile. So what did he do? He quit the job and created the Aptera. A prototype was created and is now production ready. The array of standard features is impressive indeed:

  • Driver and passenger side Airbags
  • Energy absorbing and impact deflecting passenger Safety Cell
  • Advanced drive computer with GPS navigation, CD/MP3/DVD player, XM satellite radio, Large View Rear Camera, and complete vehicle diagnostic system
  • "Eyes Forward" vision system with 180 degree rear sight picture displayed in the driver's field of view to enhance situational awareness
  • LED interior and exterior lighting for maximum energy efficiency
  • Solar assisted Climate Control System so you always enter a comfortable Aptera that is never too hot or cold
  • RFID(Radio Frequency ID) key fob so you never have to pull out your keys to enter or start your Aptera. The key fob simply remains in your pocket or purse.

Depending on your needs you can choose from two options:

All Electric - Powered exclusively with batteries and will get you around town to the tune of approximately 120 miles depending on your driving conditions. At night you simply plug the Aptera into any standard 110 volt outlet and in just a few hours you will have a fully charged vehicle that will take you another 120 miles. The approximate cost of this option with all the features listed above will be $26,900.

Plug-in Series Hybrid - Powered by an electric drive train but it is assisted by a fuel efficient gasoline powered generator which stretches your range significantly. In typical driving you may achieve over 300 miles per gallon and you will have range far beyond any passenger vehicle available today. The approximate cost of this option with all the features listed above will be $29,900.

You can reserve your very own Aptera for only $500. The first vehicles are expected to be delivered to customers sometime in 2008 so get your order in now at www.aptera.com.
