Inspired Calendar

“Ink Calendar” by Oscar Diaz.

Ink slowly spreads across the sheet, coloring in each date as it goes.

The Ink Calendar will be on display at the “Sueños de un Grifo - Diseño con Alma de Agua” exhibit which opens today at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.

Dollar Rede$ign Project

Richard Smith of Think Create Believe has started a new project entitled Dollar ReDe$ign Project in which he asks the public to send in submissions on what they think a redesigned US currency note should look like. He argues that the American Dollar has not really changed since the 1930’s which is more than enough reason to see what people come up with if they had to imagine a new Dollar in circulation.

If you’d like to participate, there’s a small set of rules you must adhere by. Otherwise, the design is pretty much up to you. The deadline for submissions is July 4, 2009 and hopefully there will be a good amount of designs to look over once we get to that date.

The two images below are designs by Michelle Haft who wanted to redesign the Dollar as a way to remind people about what aspects of the economy are affected by it.

Follow all of the updates to this project and see all new submissions over at the Dollar ReDe$ign Project’s website.

What do I hate? Old dollars. What do I love? New dollars. I would love to see something more colorful implemented into our currency.

I want Candy

Craig Kanarick. He created these posters "Candy Art" by taking photographs of candy from his travels around the world, or photos provided by friends. Kanarick comments about the artwork: “The collages are made by photographing each piece individually and combining them digitally. Otherwise, none of the images are digitally altered. They are digital c-prints on archival paper.”

Scott Campbell "Make it Rain"

Beautiful collage artwork by Scott Campbell. The artist will be unveiling his first U.S. solo show entitled “Make It Rain,” held on April 11th at the Oh-Wow gallery in Miami. I assume “make it rain” is about bringing in the money, let it rain on us. I’m just amazed with the detail of the work, it is highly original!

Boom Box/Mix Tape Wedding Invitation Set

Absolutely love this Boombox and Mix Tape themed wedding invitation set designed by Adam Ramerth and printed by Studio On Fire. First, love the retro color combination with blue and yellow crossing over to create green. Notice the detail in the boombox, the initials are in the speakers! Like how the tape spells out 'Directions' and how the tape has side A, Maxell and 90 min on it! And it's all wrapped together in one great theme - "Come Experience the Love." This letterpress set is both modern and vintage at the same time!

Bjørg Jewellery collection 2009

Oslo Jewelry designer Bjørg in her own words. “My work is very intuitive and most of it happens without me really knowing where it came from or how... This year’s collection is a lot more figurative and a lot of it comes from specific images of the Victorian era and its “Memento Mori” jewellery, there are also elements of surrealism and old fairy-tales.
The surrealist aspect is present in the approach as much as in the actual imagery. It’s about defying conventions, finding the beauty in imperfection and creating something that not only looks good, but also resonates certain thoughts, emotions or even humor...

A typographical representation of the song. Fun stuff or possibly just an art school project. Either way enjoy.
